What is Resistance News Digest?

In order to fight the dismantling of our democratic system, we need to know what’s happening. But so much is going on right now that keeping up with the news can be overwhelming - and when people get overwhelmed, it’s easy to freeze. We can’t afford that!

The Resistance News Digest started as a simple email to help friends overwhelmed by trying to track the flood of news since the inauguration of Donald Trump. It isn’t comprehensive. It can’t be. Instead, it helps provide short, manageable digests that provide summaries of key news relating to the actions of the Trump administration. Each Digest contains short paragraphs highlighting key news events, with links to articles from reliable news sources which you can decide to read if you want more information on the subject.

Who am I?

I’m a former librarian, with a lifelong interest in politics and society. I’ve worked in both academic and public libraries, helping everyone from people who were homeless and living on the streets to professors with PhDs find the reliable, accurate information they needed to make their lives better. I’ve taught courses on using the internet for research and how to evaluate information, and I’ve been doing it since before Yahoo and Google existed.

I’m also a lifelong liberal who believes that society will only become better if WE make it better by working together. I’m a passionate believer in the First Amendment as well, and I want to ensure that our civil liberties are preserved.
